Well, since the legend behind the founding of Aikido seems to be absent from the description above, I guess I’ll tell the tale.

Aikido could not have been invented if it were not for Morihei Ueshiba’s enlightenment. According to legend a master of Kendo challenged Ueshiba to a duel. Miraculously, Ueshiba defeated him without laying a hand on him. During the duel, Morihei Ueshiba was able to anticipate every attack before his opponent executed them, therefore, he was able to dodge and evade the Kendo master’s sword. So Ueshiba’s opponent exhausted himself. This moment laid the foundation of Aikido’s non-aggressive philosophy.
