I am black belt in taekwondo (not suggesting im a tough guy) and I have found that in a self defence situation it is not as effective as other named martial arts. I am not running down the name of tkd but it is a valid point that Ian made.

And yes capoeira orginated in brazil by slaves which took from africa their own martial art which then developed to the modern sport you see today.
