In my comment above, I want to be fairer to those who practice Choy Li Fut. You are not wasting your time, but the art in my opinion should not be this large, not if one is interested in the truth.

As an Historian, the often told history of Choy Li Fut does not ring exactly true. For instance, Doc Fai Wong himself dismisses the Green Grass Monk theory in his book, which isn’t bad.

I think he’s only partially right. For instance, he’s right in what he says in his book, but there is a distinct possibility that if the Green Grass Monk did exist, then it is likely to have been Choy Fok. It would not surprise me if Choy Fok may have been known by other names.

Doc Fai Wong does not come out and say this, but he seems to hint at it without committing himself. The fact that he does this indicates that there are some aspects of the history that he himself may not be sure about.

Choy Li Fut would probably still be an effective art, possibly most effective, if it returned to what it was truthfully before its current ridiculous size of “SUPER ART.” No such thing exists, not if we’re to believe that all arts are effective, which I believe to be true, depending on the many practitioners, of course.

Certainly, not everything can fall under the umbrella of Choy Li Fut, can it?

Wing Chun has only three forms and an outstanding exercise “Chi Sao”, yet is still very effective.

I submit that the Original Choy Li Fut, whatever that is, is just as effective and probably not as large also.

Choy Li Fut is also recognized by some as the art instrumental or partially so in the demise of the Ching Dynasty.

But economically, that dynasty was about to fall anyway. The ultimate bookworm/whelp in a fit of momentary anger could have pushed it over at that time and still not have had the ability of even the lowliest Choy Li Fut practitioner today.

I keep hoping that Doc Fai Wong will finally reveal that absolute truth concerning the history and the true size of Choy Li Fut Kung Fu.

In fact, I’m challenging him to do so because I think only he and a handful of others really knows the truth.
