I was a Goju Kai member at Rockdale NSW Australia in the early 70’s. I met “The Cat” there and watched him perform. He was very old but fantastic against the top instructor, hitting and disabling him without effort. I also watched attack fights. Lots of blood.
I was instructed that Goju Kai was attack and kill which was demonstrated in many ways by the Cat. The instructor also taught this and without forgiveness. Male and female practiced against each other and many times there was a casualty at practice.
I understand now that this form of Karate has changed to conform to pacification of aggression in martial arts.
I would love to get more info on what I wrote above and the reasons of Goju Kai becoming like all other docilic martial art regimes.
