I recall seeing a documentary describing a style sometimes performed by Steven Seagal in his films. The style is characterized by standing straight, close to the adversary, and using quick hand & arm manipulations in a minimalist fashion to disarm or overpower.
I believe the documentary credited one particular master (a caucasian, possibly American) as Seagal’s inspiration in learning the system.
Can anyone tell me what martial arts system this straight-standing, close-in minimalist style is? It was not called by any of the commonly popular names — not karate, not ju-jitsu or judo, etc. Anyone? Thanks very much for responding to me here.
Once I determine the style, I’d like look for a club in my region. Since I am over 50, the stance, minimalism and effectiveness of this style appeals to me as something I could learn and might do well given my particular aptitudes. Thank you again.
