i belive that any type of martial arts can be used to defend yourself on the street. the only thing is that when you get attacked on the street it happens really fast so you dont have much time to think of what to do. but if you practice everything alot then when you do have to defend yourself you will react instead of just getting beat up and not be able to do anything. beacuase you practice it so much and you are taught to react you will react. so yes in most cases hapkido will work in a street fight if you practice it enough
