I’ll quote something to yall bruce lee said..’to me ultimately martial art is about honestly expressing yourself’ and you see thats what no one seems to understand.. jkd is not a style and never was, jkd is an expression, an honest self-expression, yes bruce lee’s moto was absorb what is useful, discard what is useless, and add what is essentially your own..bruce used the best parts from 26 different martial arts, the techniqes that he considered to be most effective in a street situation, it was a creative process as martial arts should be this is why bruce had problems with traditional martial arts as they did not allow for creativity and allow growth for the individual, they claimed to have all this answers and did not change with the changing times(as does religion which is why thats all wrong too)

So the ulimate truth of any art is to allow us to express are personalities, souls etc.. just like a dancer whos learns a step then another step he puts those steps together then he learns more steps eventually he can free style he becomes creative.. but it’s only when he puts his own soul into the dance that he is truly expressing himself..and thats what bruce manage to do..thats why jkd does not exsist as a style only as a concept. The idea is to learn the martial arts that you want to learn..at the same time discover who you are through reflection and meditation. Once you have a better understanding of your self you can then begin to express that in a combative art form.

This is the ulimate goal of all art form..and bruce lee is one that achived it.. there is so much more i could say on this subject but i’m knackered..lol i’m very passionate about martial arts and think of bruce as a real great! a guy way ahead of his time.. i have done many styles and also have what i can describe as a love of wisdom..i have a profound understanding of the deeper side of the arts..

Just to finish.. i’m not in anyway saying that ‘jkd’would not work in a self-defense situation, bruce lee was very scientific when choosing which parts of the styles to use, but what i am saying is that by being taught ‘jkd’ you are really being taught how to imitate bruce lee and that defeats the object of jkd..:))
