One inherent problem with Jeet Kune Do as well as in other martial arts is that the “deadly” techniques can’t be practiced in full swing and in the heat of a fight with fully resisting opponent. When a real fight begins and you want to pull that “deadly” punch to the throat you will find it mush harder because the opponent is moving fast and actually trying to hit you too. You will never know if you have the relevant technique and physical ability until a real fight breaks out, and by then it can already be too late, since erroneous moves will not be corrected before some painfull eye opener does its damage.

This is why in sparring the martial artists of many arts consistently fail against other more sport oriented. Wrestlers, Gracies, Judokas and others are used to a full resisting opponent and thus can practice their moves almost at full force, know their strenghs and weaknesses.
