Bruce never claimed to be the best, others claimed that he was. In documented intervievs, Bruce’s students always said that he strived for perfection, investigating all styles that he knew of. I too have a former Oakland student as my sifu, and he said that Bruce stressed finding what worked, and that all styles can be effective. And he diddn’t say that he diddn’t respect other styles, but he diddn’t like the TRADITIONAL METHODS OF TEACHING. Towards the end of his life, he respected all styles, and also abandoned JKD.
And by the way, Bruce died of brain edema - excess fluid on the brain, causing pressure on his skull. It happened once before in 1972 in a Hong Kong airport, in the restroom, but people were there to save him. In ‘73, he wasan’t so blessed. The family and his students were told this by Linda Lee. That’s the horses mouth buddy. How many people have seen Elvis Presley since Aug. 16, 1977? Think about it.
