Josh, I too am a 1st Dan in Judo. Jiu-Jitsu and Judo compliment eachother, especially when dealing with multiple attackers. I have trained in a wide range of martial arts myself but focussed my efforts on developing my Judo technique. It is so exhilirating get your grip and to be able to slip into a perfect throw. I suggest that you find a good Judo dojo and start there. I sugest you train for at least 6 months before you enter a Judo competition. You will find a better balance while studying Judo as long as you train properly and have enough supporting Judokas to train with. Make sure you spend some after hours time focusing on ne waza (matt work), you will not be able to use arm bars until you are a brown belt so study a hold called kata katame, which can be used to control and choke out your opponent, however large they may be! Then study some jiu-jitsu!
