Kali, Escrima, and Arnis are the same thing? Well many teachers today tend to say that and the terms are often interchanged.

However, I’ve trained in several Filipino martial arts, and from what i’ve noticed Escrima tends to come from more northern islands and are spanish influenced, more fancy, and more useless.

Kali, tends to be taught more often in southern islands where the spanish occupation and influence was minimual.

Furthermore it is similar to indonesian silat, and is less fancy, more direct, and more useful.
