Someone who is used to fighting suffers none of the stress a “weekend sparrer” suffers. Taking punches and pain are second nature. A decent boxer also has good movement and defense; he’s used to the way it works. He knows where to hit and how hard, knows to look for the twitch. You cannot deny the advantages.
There is a world of difference between a good kick and a weak one. To simply say a kick would fend off a boxer fails to take into account how few martial artists are actually effective kickers. A kick in and of itself will not fend off a conditioned boxer. Boxers are not invincible, that is true, but how conditioned is your average KM practitioner? I’ll bet you a bottle of Jack they’re not in the same physical condition as the average boxer. But my view of KM is biased, having lived with Israelis and seen what little KM is good for when you know how to move and defend.
But if I think too little of KM, you think too little of boxing.
I was only condescending because you called me a knucklehead. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings, honest. I like to come on here and stir things up to get people talking. The truth is, I appreciate the information and this is the surest way to get it. Thanks.
