Sanda, in Chinese, means free style boxing. It is one of the modern styles developed and used by the Chinese military nowadays and is often seen on formal competitions too.
Firstly, Sanda doesn’t involve what most Chinese martial arts involve, Chi. It focuses on punches, kicks, wrestling. Its aggressiveness enables one to fight very effectively against any other martial arts styles.
Secondly, Sanda still follows the fundamental rules in Chinese kung fu. Softness against Hardness. This means that when we fight a taekwondo fighter we will fight him very closely disallowing him to take effective kicking strikes whereas with a Thaiboxer, we will use our wrestling skills to overcome his superiority in knee strikes and hardcore defence.
I hope this hopes you guys understand modern Chinese kung fu better.
