In response to Old Guy’s post, it’s been my experience that even though speed and power are useful in sport, and sometimes in street fights, they aren’t as effective in real combat as angles, distance and timing. If you’re not in range to get hit by them, but are in range to hit them, you should be fine. That’s difficult to do, but I know it is possible, as I have both seen and performed it.

Just something to think about. So you know something about my credibility I’ve practiced at some level or other several styles of martial arts including Judo, Ju Jutsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, Capoeira, Spetznos, Shotokan Karate, Goju Ryu Karate, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Sun Dao, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Kendo, Tai Chi, Aikido and Ninjutsu.

With the exception of only a couple of those schools, I believe that all the students could have their asses kicked by a Ballerina, or any good dancer- because she understands distance and timing, and if you never get a chance to hit them, it doesn’t matter how fast or hard you can punch and kick.

Anyway, those are my two cents. I hope you think about them rather than dismissing them out of hand.
