I’ve done savate for a few years an I’ve meticulously studied its history. There seems to be a confusion between savate an “Chausson de Marseille” (the art prcticed by sailors). There is no evidence that the latter influenced the former. And no proof thet ffench sailors learnen any kickin in Asia. Kicking was popualar in Europe during the middle ages particularly mixed with sworfighting. The body mechanics of savate kicks are complete different from oriental martial arts . And the hand techniques are straight from boxing. The late Bruce Lee showed strong interest for the art and adopted savate style of kicks to his repertoire. Ande example of that can be seen in the movue “Enter The Dregon”
