Not to put a fine point on it, but has anyone researched the possibility of An African Origin or contribution to the art? The Pic above shows something that a practitioner of capoeira, re-efi era eshee (I think I spelled that right) could tell you that the particular kick peing preformed by that practioner in the above picture has the “form” or “style” congruent to a practioner of capoeira, and not an asian-based kick. I say that because his leading hand is in front of his body, and the asian styles of antiquity put their hands behind their body, which you can see between his legs.

If you don’t believe me, dust off your tekken3 game and try the same appearing kick with eddie gordo and law; now law may have his hand in the front, I can’t remember, but if he does, that wasn’t done until Bruce Lee first changed it, and that particular character was based on bruce lee, so maybe it’s useless to use the Law character for that, but if you look online perhaps and find that particular kick, I think you will agree that the leading hand will be behind the person, appearing between his legs.

I also say that because I know that in the Middle Ages and before there were Africans in Europe, and vice-versa. France in particular had at least one notable descendant of Africans because he was the guy who wrote the book “The Three Muskeeters” and Ironicly appeared to have had his finger on the pulse of the martial arts community, given his apparent familiarity with the inner workings of the codes of honour of sects.

Just a thought from a guy who likes the art…
