I studied Savate under Richard Grigsby in Coventry UK. It was a pleasure to see this man fight. Some say it developed in Marseille when the City was a centre for ballet dancing aswell as a main port and the ballet dancers developed their own form of self-defence - Savate!

Certainly if you watch someone who has been well-trained in both ballet and boxing (odd combination I know!) you see the very best of Savate! Incidentally, the roundhouse kick is taught in Savate, this kick is not from the front foot!
