Hi — came here to learn more about the history of Savate, which both my son and I are learning. Master Larry Cummins teaches Savate in Lake County, California (2-1/2 hours from SF). His team also trains and competes, successfully, in cage fights. No “pay your way” belts in this dojo — lots of people travel long distances to train with him or one of his selected instructors. He is currently ONLY doing private lessons. Only prob. is in non-cage karate competitions, some of the techniques are barred as too dangerous. This is not just a “show” and “learn respect and discipline” technique for rich kids. Very practical in street fighting. Master Cummins is also known for his success with handicapped and developmentally disabled clients (my son is one). Pity the poor fool who tries to take advantage of my “helpless retarded boy” someday. God Bless.
