Are you guys all just guessing? Savate is basically kickboxing but french-ized. Compared to most other martial arts its really silly looking to watch… If you have the money to spend, there are better MA’s to study. If you are looking to study a standup boxing type MA Muay Thai is no doubt superior to Savate. Maybe if they taught Savate 5 minutes from your house and everything else was an hour and a half away… nah what am I saying… drive the hour and a half… you have to wear a freakin costume looking bodysuit in the ring for cripes sake… and anyway, since when have the surrendering french learned to fight.

P.S. That picture may be old, but it dosn’t look a heck of a lot different than the way modern savate looks. Standing straight up throwing awkward looking kicks. The only chance you would have of winning a street fight with savate is if your opponent was completely untrained in any MA or he was also trained in savate.

P.S.S. whats with all the “doctors” “grand masters” and “Martial art historians” on this site. As for the “Doctors” I really hope your better at medicine than you are at grammar and spelling… and to the “super grand master elites” stop taking so many karate chops to the head and learn to write. Damn, I’m no author but, there seems to be a inproportionate number of numb-skulls on this site that have to tell everyone how wrong they are. Stop lying… if You are a 12 year old kid who has never studied MA before, say so… you will learn more. Oh yeah and for the historians just because your cousins sisters boyfriend told you something, it dosn’t make it a “fact”… everyone can’t be right… sometimes it gets to the point where you should just let the person be wrong.
