i make my studens practice a kata for a month and a month and a half befor i introduce a part of another kata. rule of thumb is it takes a year according to okanowin tradition befor going to the next. but in personal opinion it depends on skill level of the student and development speed on the students pysical and mental capabillity. but mastary depends on the kata length if u go by the book. it depends on u if you go by personal development.
