I’ll say this, I don’t have the juevos to say that I’ve mastered anything! I’ll be a 3rd degree in November, and I’m still finding out just how much I don’t really know! I tell this to all of my junior students. A master is a self appreciating title! You could take this for 30 years, and only scratch the surface! For inatance, do you know all 12 renzoukokkens (continous fist mini katas named after the animals on the Chinese calender that predate all Karate katas)? Or all of their bunkai? Or the true essence of Passai, or the history of Shuri-te to Chatan Yara and before? There’s too much to learn. In his last days, Chibana Snnsei was living with Nakazado, and Nakazado would ask his teacher to show him the deeper meanings of the katas, and Chibana’s reply “I don’t have enough time to teach you, and you don’t have enough time to learn. It’s that far beyond you.” Think about that before you call yourself a ‘Master”. Peace, and train hard.
