Shotokan is a great hard style - it’s very effective and powerful, it’s just more complex than muay thai (and longer ranged). However a hybrid of muay thai and shotokan would be quite the sight to see. Muay thai makes great use of elbow and knee strikes. Shotokan has powerful kicks and punches as well as limb breaking.
Also as a side note shotokan means “waving pines”, which makes a lot of sense because the dojo I attend has only bo offered as an armed style. I would also like to note that my dojo is traditional, and not a fast food place like US, or Karate Junction.
