I think that most of you have lost the true sense of the art of the open hand. When you are talking about training on trees and tires to break femurs on the “street” you have lost the most important feature of the martial arts the mind.
There are three main features in combat that i have learned in Iraq where i was called on to utilize the arts that i studyed as a civilian for survival.
One is your body. If you lack the physical strength to move you obviously cannot defend yourself properly. If you are built like a brick house then chances are you are less mobile then an average sized fighter and that can be fatal.
Second is your mind the reaction and planning utilized in training and combat to defeat and if necessary destroy your enemy.
Third and it may seem corny but it has a definite effect that most of you “street fighters” dont have a clue about is soul. The spiritual effects of combat. Your reason to fight and your mind set either a sence of justification or dominance.
A true battle is 10% physical and 90% mental. Dont let your “bullys beat me up” past let you go out and become what made you. It is your weakness no matter how hard you train. A true warrior finds a way not to fight a war. God forbid you actually have to feel the pain that comes from killing a human being.
