It is obvious that the muy thai proponent is young and has not seen advanced Shotokan or experienced being struck by an advanced practitioner. Each disciplin has it’s purpose and cannot be compared, because they are both quite different in purpose. Shotokan as it is practiced by advanced students is about as strong as karate can get. In pounds per square inch, researchers have shown a shotokan punch to be many times stronger than boxing or even thai boxing punches.
