Shotokan is a great martial art and i know as i have studied it for 5 years now. The only downpoint of this style is the fact that it does not wholly prepare you if you were to get into a fight outside of a dojo as he will not say the move he is going to do to you before you do it. i think muay thai is one of the best martial arts for close quarters combot
