I started Shukokai at Sensei Kimura’s Hackensack dojo. I was a brown belt in another style and Sensei said I should wear the brown belt and in time I would learn the Shukokai basics, katas, etc. (BIG MISTAKE) Attended all the advanced classes and all we did was spar.
Got plenty of lumps.
Then Arthur Sabatino takes over the school and advised me to take the beginners classes also, this way he could teach me the basics, katas, stances etc. Worked out great. When Sensei Kimura returned he said,” Now you look like Shukokai”. Always greatfull to Arthur.He was a great instructor and friend.
Finally made Black belt by Sensei Kamura.
Have so many memories but it would go on and on.
