Sensei Sabatino is a great man and teacher.
I remember when I had some financial difficulties for a while and he saw me one day and asked why he didn’t see me in class for some time. I told him I didn’t have enough money. He told me just to come and sweep or vacuum the school for my tuition. Another time he paid for me to go to the doctor. As for Karate instruction he can teach you how to hit really hard. I haven’t felt anyone hit with the shock of a good Shukokai student punch that trained with Sensei Sabatino. Whether it’s boxing, Muay Thai, MMA or Karate styles. I remember holding the bag for Chris C. I think a first Dan or Shodan Ho and after he punched the bag you would black out for a second or two because of the shock (not a push). You didn’t want to hold that pad after one good punch or a kick. Wish I would have stayed and trained hard so I could have hit as hard as Chris lol. Sensei Sabatino was a great teacher because he taught not just an empty technique but how to connect your body to the technique using the principles and mechanics of Shukokai that he learned from his instructor Shihan Shigeru Kimura. Sensei Sabatino has been retired for some time but once in a while he still shares some knowledge with friends. I always hope that one day he might open a school again before the high level technique gets lost since he has no teacher’s under him. (lenm1345@optonline.net)
