It is true that if you allow your leg to remain in the target area for very long, the opponent could grab your leg. However, as long as you kick with the correct technique there will be no more likelyhood that the opponent will grab your leg any more than they are likely to grab your arm. You just need to make sure your kicks are fast and accurate, in and out as rapidly as possible. If you allow your leg to remain within your opponents grasp, they will grab it.
