Actually, if you look at the characters for Pangai noon you will see that they literally translate to “half” “hard” and “soft.” This is according to information found at www.pangainoon.net, on www.uechi-ryu.com, and the use of a good Japanese to English dictionary.
I’ve never seen any information that says pangai noon means “strike hard, run fast” nor any information indicating Kanbun Uechi’s involvement in the White Lotus Society. I’d be very interested in knowing what your sources are for that information.
