The Yoseikan Budo style is not relatively new. Minoru Mochizuki founded the Yoseikan in 1931 in Shizuoka, Japan. His son, Hiroo Mochizuki was sent to France after the death of the chief instructor, by his father.
From that time forward, Shihan Hiroo Mochizuki, under the request of his father, worked to find the basic principles that would unite the various arts of kobudo, karate, jiujitsu, aiki, and kempo. In his final years, Minoru Mochizuki lived with his son in France and affirmed to his son that he (Shihan Hiroo Mochizuki) had indeed found the principles to bring all of the arts together. The principle of the wave or undulation, underlies all areas of the Yoseikan Budo style. For many years now, Yoseikan Budo has been the correct name for the art. It is its own style.
